SALC Postdoctoral Fellowships Workshop, 22 April 2024, 12:30pm-1:30pm

This online workshop, held on Microsoft Teams, is open to Humanities researchers who are interested in applying for an externally funded postdoctoral fellowship with the 六合彩网址大全 at The University of Manchester.

The session, co-hosted with the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Arts and Languages (CIDRAL), will cover three popular, multi-year postdoctoral fellowship schemes to which SALC is supporting applications: The ; the ; and the . These schemes are all tenable on a full-time basis, and each represents an excellent opportunity for Early Career Researchers to develop their academic careers.

Attendees will hear from academics who have been involved in these schemes as supervisors and/or reviewers, current fellows, and our Strategic Funding & Impact Team. Topics covered will include the application process, what makes a successful application, 'Why Manchester?' and fellows' experiences of applying for their award.

Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowship

The University of Manchester’s 六合彩网址大全 (SALC) welcomes applications to the 2024 round of the Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowship.

This scheme offers exceptional career development opportunities for those who are at a relatively early stage of their academic careers, but who have a proven track record of research.

Fellowships are tenable for three years on a full-time basis, providing a salary and also research expenses of up to £6,000 per year. Around 145 fellowships are available this year.

Fellows will undertake a significant piece of publishable work, which must be distinguishable from their PhD project, during the period of their award.

SALC is one of the largest interdisciplinary arts and humanities schools of its kind in the UK. Consult our website for information on our subject areas, staff specialisms and research centres and institutes. Those interested in applying will need to contact a University of Manchester academic who can act as a sponsor for their application.

SALC has had consistent success in this scheme, including five awards in 2022.


Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Have successfully passed their viva voce examination by 4pm on the closing date of Thursday, 22 February 2024.
  • Have not yet held a permanent, full-time academic post in a UK university or comparable institution.
  • Either hold a degree from a UK higher education institution at the time of taking up the Fellowship or at the time of the application deadline must hold an academic position in the UK (e.g. fixed-term lectureship, fellowship) which commenced no less than 4 months prior to the closing date.

Selection Process

Interested applicants will need to:

  • Make contact with a potential University of Manchester academic sponsor
  • Submit a draft application (using the template) and 2-page CV in Microsoft Word format

Completed expressions of interest should be sent to salc.research@manchester.ac.uk (via the relevant Department).

The internal deadline for submitting your expression of interest is Monday, 13 November 2023.

Successful applicants will be notified in December 2023.
